The
Organization of Women Faculty was established in 1992 with support from the Office of the Provost and a grant from EO/AA Office to aid in the professional development of women faculty on the Virginia Tech campus.  Major activities include workshops aimed at discussing issues such as:

* Effective strategies for promotion to Associate Professor including construction of a strong dossier
* Strategies for promotion to Full Professor status.
* Choosing administration as an academic career track
* Mutual mentoring

EVENTS FOR 2007-2008:

*Discussion of the New Family Friendly Policies: Pat Hyer will explain the opportunities available for academic faculty, such as "stopping the tenue clock," "modified duties," and "family and medical leave." There will also be a panel discussion featuring faculty who have used these policies. Refreshments provided. Thursday, 18 October 2007, 3:30-5:00 pm, Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown, Meeting Room C.

*Classroom Management Panel Discussion: Anne McNabb will lead a panel discussion of techniques for dealing with the unexpected in and outside of the classroom. Refreshments provided. Wednesday, 07 November 2007, 4:00-5:30 pm, Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown, Meeting Room F.

*Promotion to Tenure Panel Presentation: The VT Promotion & Tenure Process: Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask! -- A Panel Discussion with Janine Hiller, Ann Kilkelly, Katherine Allen, and Linda Arnold, Thursday 07 February 2008, 3:30-5:00PM, McBryde 655.
